We wanted to give our patrons and actors a forum to share their thoughts and opinions on what is happening. The Athens Theatre has over 2,200 Facebook Fans but we did not want to leave out those people that do not participate on Facebook. </span><br /><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><span style="color: black;">We are very excited about the next couple of months, the Athens Theatre is actively participating during <strong>Breast Cancer Awareness Month</strong>. Starting with the </span><a href="http://www.beabosombuddy.com/"><span style="color: black;"><strong>Be A Bosom Buddy</strong></span></a><span style="color: black;"> Event on Saturday, September 17th. The Athens is sponsoring this Benefit Auction event along with the </span><a href="http://mainstreetdeland.org/"><span style="color: black;"><strong>Mainstreet Deland Association</strong></span></a><span style="color: black;"> and the </span><a href="http://www.clubrunner.ca/Portal/Home.aspx?cid=2110"><span style="color: black;"><strong>Rotary Club of Downtown DeLand</strong></span></a><span style="color: black;">. </span></span><span style="color: black; font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Proceeds from this event will help fund diagnostic, interventional, and supportive breast care services at <b><a href="http://www.fhdeland.org/"><span style="color: black;">Florida Hospital DeLand</span></a> </b>for women in our community that cannot afford it.</span><br /><span style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">The featured auction items at this event will be BraArt</span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">. BraArt is considered a bra themed work of art using any medium, including a real bra. Bra entries may be wearable bras that are decorated and bedazzled, or they can be any artistic representation (not wearable). There is still time create and submit your bra for the event.</span></span><br /><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;"><span style="color: black;">The top 10 Auction Winners will be on display at the Athens during the </span><a href="http://athenstheatre.org/SandsTheater.html"><span style="color: black;"><strong>Sands Theater Company</strong></span></a><span style="color: black;"> prodcuction <em>"The Dixie Swim Club"</em> which opens on September 23 and plays through Oct 9. This show is about f</span></span><span style="color: black; font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">ive Southern women, whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team, set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. Free from husbands, kids and jobs, they meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina’s Outer Banks to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other’s lives. <em>“The Dixie Swim Club”</em> focuses on four of those weekends and spans a period of thirty-three years. </span><br /><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;"><span style="color: black;">We are proud to announce that $2 of each adult ticket sold will be donated the Florida Hospital DeLand Breast Cancer Program.
